In 2022 moeten alle 17 kerncentrales in Duitsland gesloten zijn, lees ik. Dat besluit is al in 2011 genomen door Merkel. Oorzaak, gevaar op ongelukken en kernafval.
Frankrijk wil tot 2035 14 van zijn kerncentrales sluiten van de 58.

Kern-energie is toch het beste wat we hebben?
Of gaan ze toch iets echts uitvinden of toevallig vinden ? Lijkt het nog niet op ?
Kernenergie zal zodoende nog vele jaren blijven en nodig zijn, in vele landen over de gehele wereld.

Mijn god, sluit alle kerncentrales dan gaan we meteen allemaal weer op hout stoken met alle gevolgen van dien en Duitsland? Die lopen dankzij bibberende merkel hopeloos achter, die grundlickeit ist verscwunden, Het Willy Brand vliegveld in berlijn is nog steeds niet open, als je in Tegel landt lijkt het wel rusland. Dat daargelaten Duitsland wil kerncentrales sluiten maar dan gaan ze op hout gestookte centrales werken, Hoe ver kun je weg zakken, en waar is de waterstof? Kernernergie en waterstof zijn de toekomst! En wij moeten van het gas af en in Duitsland krijg je een bonus als je op aardgas over gaat. WELKOM IN EUROPA.

Heel die windmolens is gewoon waanzin, wat een inbreuk op flora en fauna heeft dit laat staan het open karakter van het landschap. Dit gaat ons niet redden in windstille periodes of zeer winderige periodes. Nee we lopen hopeloos achter de feiten aan, maar dat komt nog wel boven water! Waterstof en kernenergie zullen het worden.

North Sea Wind Power Hub Consortium Presents Achievable Solution to Meet Climate Goals

The international consortium partners of the North Sea Wind Power Hub presented the results of the project's assessment phase. Over the past months, the consortium has been analysing the possibility and conditions required to build one or several wind power hubs in the North Sea. The consortium has conducted a wide range of studies, investigated a number of different scenarios and conducted intense engagements with policy makers, leading offshore wind farm developers and Non-governmental organisations.

The consortium's aim is to facilitate the large scale roll-out and integration of far North Sea offshore wind against least cost to society while maintaining security of supply, as part of the energy transition to a low-carbon energy system. The vision is based on an internationally coordinated rollout of Hub-and-Spoke projects, combining wind power connection, coupling of energy markets through interconnection and smart integration in the onshore energy grid, including power to gas. This approach has major advantages both economically and in terms of environmental policy.

The consortium's investigations serve answers to meet Paris Agreement climate goals on time and respond to current energy and climate agreements e.g. in The Netherlands and Denmark as well as to German fade out of nuclear power and coal exit.

Summary of key findings
• The proposed Hub-and-Spoke concept is technically feasible
• A gradual roll-out of 10 to 15 gigawatts hubs is the next logical step towards a large offshore wind build-out
• A first Hub-and-Spoke project will likely be electrically connected to shore and with additional power-to-gas to provide energy system flexibility and could be operational in the 2030s
• While it is likely possible to build a first Hub and Spoke project within the current regulatory framework and market design, i.e. current EU and national legislation, significant changes are required in national practices, approaches, planning and policies in order to allow for integrated infrastructure projects such as the modular hub concept being part of the long term energy transition
• According to all international studies and scenarios the large scale roll-out rate of offshore wind is crucial to meet “Paris targets”. Acceleration is needed.
• As the North Sea is hosting a large potential for offshore wind power, the implementation of 180 gigawatts offshore wind can be achieved by 2045 by the consortium’s approach
• An international coordinated approach could connect and integrate large scale offshore wind more effectively and with significant lower costs compared to a continued individual national planning
• Long term market security is needed for all stakeholders to invest and build-up the required supply chains
• Urgent agreements on developing sustainable energy from offshore wind after 2030 are needed
• Consortium has started and facilitates discussion with governments, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), policy makers and industry: Close cooperation and support is needed by setting up consultation processes and international agreements
• Balanced decision making is required by policy makers and spatial planners to weigh the environmental impact of offshore wind farm developments against its techno economic impact, and the urgency to meet the long-term climate goals
• Using power-to-gas conversion and transmission in combination with coupling with other sectors will bring benefits to the overall energy system.

GE Probes Third Turbine Collapse at US Wind Farms

A GE turbine has collapsed at a wind farm in Nebraska, marking the third such incident involving its turbines in the US this year although Recharge understands investigations of the two earlier failures suggests no common factor behind the spate of dramatic topplings. The latest turbine came down on 5 July at Invenergy’s 200MW Upstream Wind Energy Center, which only began operations at the beginning of 2019. Nobody was injured by the collapse of the GE 2.5-116 turbine at the wind farm in Antelope County, near the city of Norfolk.

A spokesperson for GE Renewable Energy told Recharge that “GE was notified on 5 July of a 2.5-116 turbine collapse at the Upstream wind farm in Nebraska. GE immediately deployed a team to the site, and is working closely with the wind farm operator to determine the root cause of this incident. We stand by the quality and reliability of our turbines, and we are taking immediate action with our customer to resolve this issue. GE Renewable Energy's best-selling 2MW product platform will have a total installed capacity of more than 15GW by the end of 2019 and operates at an industry-leading average of 98-plus percent availability.”

Invenergy said in a statement sent to Recharge said that “Invenergy is investigating the incident at Upstream Wind Energy Center. One turbine, a GE 2.5-116, was impacted and the wind farm remains fully operational and is generating electricity.”

The Nebraska incident is the third collapse of a GE machine in the US this year. In February a GE 2.5-127 turbine came down at the Casa Mesa Wind Energy Center in eastern New Mexico, which entered commercial operation in the fourth quarter of last year.

As it launches the third collapse inquiry, GE Renewable Energy has identified and addressed the root causes of the two turbine failures earlier this year, Recharge understands from sources close to the investigations.

The May incident is understood to be down to an issue experienced during a turbine reboot, which is being addressed with a software update.

The earlier collapse at the Casa Mesa Wind Energy Center, operated by NextEra, is being attributed to a fuse-related blade issue while the turbine was running in overspeed mode during high winds, causing rotor imbalance and tower collapse.

Nobody was hurt in the February or May collapses. The two incidents – now followed by the third in Nebraska – led to questions over a potential common root cause. But Recharge understands the two earlier failures are being differentiated and, while the latest investigation is still in its very early stages, it is not immediately being linked to the other two.

Recharge reported after the second incident in May how academics at Birmingham University in the UK said the wind industry needs to develop a better understanding of the complex interplay of factors that can lead to turbine collapse.

Total Group’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report

In response to the false information being circulated, the Total Group would like to recall that: Worldwide, greenhouse gas emissions relating to Total-operated oil and gas facilities came to 42 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent in 2018. Given that global emissions amount to more than 50 billion metric tonne per year, this represents less than 0.1% of the total. The commonly cited figure of 1% of global emissions is therefore inaccurate.

EIn France, greenhouse gas emissions relating to Total-operated oil and gas facilities came to 10 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent in 2018. Given that the country’s emissions amount to 445 million metric tonne per year, this represents 2.2% of the total. The commonly cited figure of two-thirds of French emissions is therefore also inaccurate.

Eindelijk. Na Londen, Parijs en Sydney is nu ook door Utrecht de klimaatnoodtoestand uitgeroepen. Het betekent eigenlijk helemaal niks, maar Utrecht hoort er tenminste wel echt bij. Uiteraard doet Utrecht dit iets later dan Amsterdam, want in Utrecht gebeurt nou eenmaal alles altijd iets later dan in Amsterdam. "Met het uitroepen van de noodtoestand geven wij aan bewoners een signaal af. Wij laten zien dat Utrecht de klimaatproblemen serieus neemt." Dat zal ze leren! Nou nog iemand vinden die Utrecht serieus neemt.

Het is 21 graden in juli, wat moeten we Utrecht precies sturen voor deze noodtoestand? Ik stel voor tanks, avondklok, gemeenteraad afschaffen en rechtstreeks door militairen laten besturen, wegen en openbaar vervoer sluiten, checkpoints waar mensen alleen na fouilleren doorheen mogen lopen. Net zo lang tot de noodtoestand is opgelost. Denk dat ze dat dan na ongeveer een uur wel vinden.

Zeg, gaat die klimaatverandering pas in als we de eerste belastingtermijnen ervoor hebben betaald? Het is gigantisch kutweer en ik kan me niet herinneren ooit zo'n koude juli te hebben meegemaakt ook al is dit pas mijn 57e. Als het klimaat na de eerste betalingen niet daadwerkelijk opwarmt, krijgen we echt de poppen aan het dansen want ik ben natuurlijk niet de enige die van het weer baalt!

Ik woon in Utrecht. Dingen die dor de gemeente zouden moeten worden gedaan blijven liggen, zo ontstaan er steeds meer gevaarlijke situaties op trottoirs en op fietspaden. Er zijn lelijke gebouwen neergezet die de domtoren niet langer meer als uniek hoogste bebouw in de binnenstad laten zijn. Er zijn vrije busbanen aangelegd ten koste van auto- en fietsverkeer. Diesels die ouder zijn dan 2001 mogen de stad niet meer in, inmiddels is gebleken dat die maatregel geen reet uitmaakt, maar blijft desondanks van kracht. Herhaaldelijk melden dat er steeds grote plassen ontstaan omdat er onkruid voor de put ligt worden niet serieus genomen (dat speelt al een half jaar). Ondergrondse restafvalcontainers stinken met het warme weer de pan uit. En de belastingen gaan omhoog.

Het is juist de verstedelijking en overbevolking die zorgen voor stijging in temperatuur. Fiets 's ochtends vroeg de stad maar eens uit de polder in. Dan kan je het opwarm effect goed voelen. Al die betonnen gebouwen en wegen houden warmte vast. Maar nee, het is de schuld van het half uur koken op het gasfornuis.
Als alle subsidie Tesla's gewoon afgevoerd worden van 350nm naar zeg 20nm, en dan rijdt ie ook wel, scheelt enorm aan energie verbruik en vooral warmte uitstoot.
En de grenzen dicht natuurlijk. Maar dat spreekt voor zich.
