Altice USA nadert verkoop van zijn Lightpath-ring aan Stonepeak

Buyout-bedrijf in gesprek om minderheidsinvestering te doen in glasvezeleenheid

Altice USA Inc. , de aanbieder van kabeltelevisie vorig jaar afgesplitst van Altice NV van Patrick Drahi, is in vergevorderde gesprekken over de verkoop van een minderheidsbelang in zijn Lightpath fiber-eenheid aan Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners , volgens mensen die bekend zijn met de materie.

Het in New York gevestigde private equity-bedrijf nadert een deal die de eenheid ongeveer $ 3 miljard waard zou zijn, zeiden de mensen, die vroegen om niet geïdentificeerd te worden omdat de zaak niet openbaar is. Een transactie kon al volgende week worden aangekondigd, zei een van de mensen. Altice USA zou een meerderheidsbelang behouden.

Er is nog geen beslissing genomen en de gesprekken kunnen nog steeds mislukken, zeiden de mensen.

Vertegenwoordigers van Altice USA en Stonepeak weigerden commentaar te geven.

Altice USA steeg om 14.31 uur met 1% tot $ 26 in New York, wat het bedrijf een marktwaarde van ongeveer $ 17,3 miljard opleverde. De aandelen zijn het afgelopen jaar met ongeveer 55% gestegen.

De potentiële deal komt wanneer Altice USA haar activiteitenportfolio wil stroomlijnen en tegelijkertijd de groei in breedband- en videodiensten wil stimuleren.

Altice USA kan de opbrengst van een mogelijke verkoop van Lightpath gebruiken om aandelen in te kopen of schulden af ??te lossen, zei Chief Executive Officer Dexter Goei in een conference call over de winst in mei. Het bedrijf had op 31 maart ongeveer $ 23,5 miljard aan schulden, volgens gegevens verzameld door Bloomberg.

Lightpath, met een netwerk van ongeveer 375.000 km glasvezel, biedt internet, telefoon, datatransport en andere diensten aan bedrijven in en rond New York City, volgens het jaarverslag van Altice USA.

Stonepeak, opgericht in 2011, investeert volgens zijn website in energie-, nutsbedrijven- en communicatiebedrijven.

De firma sloot zijn meest recente fonds met $ 7,2 miljard in 2018.

Vraag me al een gehele tijd af, waarom short percentage plaatsen op forum, terwijl het geen bal uitmaakt op de koers.

Ook van Altice USA kwamen woensdag cijfers naar buiten. De van Altice Europe afgesplitste Amerikaanse tak rekent op extra omzet in het hele boekjaar. Waar de prognose eerst op 2,5 tot 3 procent groei stond, is dat nu verhoogd naar een omzetaanwas tussen de 3 en 3,5 procent. Afgelopen kwartaal zaten de opbrengsten op jaarbasis met 3,7 procent in de lift, tot 2,5 miljard dollar. Onder de streep was sprake van 86 miljoen dollar winst, waar een jaar eerder nog 98 miljoen dollar verlies in de boeken ging. De directie van Altice USA heeft tevens een nieuw aandeleninkoopprogramma geautoriseerd. Dat programma duurt drie jaar en heeft een waarde van 5 miljard dollar.

Men kan op de IEX nog niet eens een ATUS profiel maken.
Erg up to date zijn ze niet, geen kwartaal cijfers geen grafiek enz.
Zal wel luiheid zijn, dat alles op het Altice Europ forum moet, van twee aparte genoteerde aandelen.
