BAM underway on £23 million new scheme in Runcorn for industrial giant INEOS’s INOVYN ChlorVinyls
Hemel Hempstead, 28 January 2020 - Construction of new office accommodation is now well underway for chemical giant INEOS’s INOVYN ChlorVinyls business at its Runcorn Site.
Following a competitive tender process, INOVYN has appointed BAM Construction, whose North West team is making sound progress on the £23 million new facilities. The steel frame can now be seen rising from the ground.
The highly modern four-storey office will house 475 employees and has been designed by Glasgow-based architects Michael Laird.
BAM has a strong track record in the industrial sector having built both the new headquarters for INEOS in Grangemouth, and an advanced manufacturing centre for Unilever in Port Sunlight, recently.
Ian Fleming, BAM’s regional director, said: ‘We’ve got an experienced team and a strong track record working for major clients like INOVYN, but this build is a challenging one so we will need to bring these qualities to bear. We know the people who come to work here will appreciate these attractive new office conditions which will really transform their old working environments.’
BAM recently notched up 150 years in business across the world, having built its first UK project in 1874, and its first scheme in Liverpool in 1933, when it delivered the new parcels office in Hatton Garden. Its sister company BAM Nuttall built the Royal Liver Building in 1911. To commemorate the anniversary, the firm’s staff recently concluded a worldwide programme to plant 150,000 trees, in Bury, Manchester as part of the Northern Forest which runs from Liverpool to Hull.
