One of Trump’s personal assistants has tested positive for coronavirus, sources tell me. Nick Luna, as bodyman, works in very close proximity to the president so it’s not surprising.

Another factor that is unsettling White House aides tonight is Nick Luna is married Cassidy Dumbauld, who is an aide to Jared Kushner. More people in the circle around Trump’s senior adviser diagnosed with coronavirus.

Tony Schwartz spent hundreds of hours with Trump to ghostwrite his bestselling 1987 book The Art of the Deal, effectively creating the origin story of the brash property tycoon. It was Schwartz who coined the phrase “truthful hyperbole”, which neatly foreshadowed Trump and his supporters’ attempts to rationalize many of his false and misleading claims.

The 68-year-old writer has long disowned the president as a malignant narcissist and expressed regret for his part in constructing the mythology. So the New York Times report, detailing chronic financial losses and vast outstanding loans, confirmed his view that Trump was always better at cutting fantasy deals than making real ones.

Trump is ‘infuriated’ his chief of staff (Mark Meadows) told the press his health was ‘very concerning’

President Donald J. Trump is reportedly furious at White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows following his less-than-stellar address to the nation about his boss’ health.

The difference of opinion occurred minutes after the president’s team of doctors gave a rosy interpretation of their patient’s road to recovery. The conflicting information was public fodder for the remainder of the day Saturday with numerous television news channels digging in an attempt at reaching some sort of reality.

“The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care,” Meadows told reporters, asking not to be mentioned by name. “We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.”

Although not mentioned by name, Meadows was reportedly identified when an image surfaced of him speaking with the media outside of Walter Reed. That’s when Trump tweeted, “I am feeling well!” and then proceeded to call his former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani to help him compose the following message, which he shared via video.

“The comments infuriated the president, according to people close to the situation, and he intervened directly to counter the perception that he was sicker than the White House had admitted,” the newspaper reported.

Lindsey Graham had in het verleden gezegd dat er in het jaar van een Presidentsverkiezing geen rechter voor de Supreme Court mocht worden aangewezen. Dat moet overgelaten worden aan de nieuw gekozen President.Je mag mij aan mijn woord houden , had hij daaraan toegevoegd.
Nu staat Graham achter Trump's besluit om voor 3 november een nieuwe rechter aan de Supreme Court toe te voegen.

Trump, Covid and empathy for the world's least empathetic man
Biden is praying for him – and yet the Trump campaign’s negative ads continue. There’s an asymmetry of decency here

For about a minute today I found myself feeling sorry for Donald Trump. The poor man is now “battling” Covid-19 (the pugilistic verb is showing up all over the news). He’s in the hospital. He’s out of shape. He’s 74 years old. His chief of staff reportedly says his symptoms are “very concerning”.

Joe Biden is praying for him. Kamala Harris sends him heartfelt wishes. President Obama reminds us we’re all in this together and we want to make sure everyone is healthy.

But hold on: why should we feel empathy for one of the most unempathetic people in the world?

One reason is out of respect. He’s a human being. He’s our president.

Yet there’s an asymmetry here. While the Biden campaign has taken down all negative television advertising, the Trump campaign’s negative ads continue non-stop.

Ik heb je link hebben aangeklikt en het artikel gelezen. Helemaal mee eens dat je met de oversterfte / ondersterfte een wellicht beter beeld krijgt van het aantal coronadoden dan met het aantal alleen getestte coronadoden. In het artikel zelf is wel duidelijk dat er in Belgie veel meer oversterfte was onder de 85=plussers. Wat dan weer betekent dat oversterfte verschillen tussen landen ook weer niet zo makkelijk zijn te vergelijken als je dat niet compenseert voor bevolkingsopbouw.

Dan wanneer je naar de levensverwachting kijkt van de Janks vs NL, resp 79 en 83 ;https://www.worldometers.info/demographics/life-expectancy/ kan ik me niet meteen voorstellen dat Nl het slechter heeft gedaan dan de VS wanneer het om potentiele in-goede-gezondheid-levensjaren gaat.

U.S. Reps. Pete Stauber, Tom Emmer and Jim Hagedorn all were on the same Delta Airlines flight despite the airline’s restrictions on passengers recently exposed to COVID-19. Trump announced early Friday morning he had tested positive for the virus.

Delta’s policy says customers who know they were exposed to the virus in the last 14 days cannot travel on the company’s aircraft. The airline defines exposure as face-to-face contact with someone carrying the virus, or sustained contact for more than 15 minutes less than six feet apart.

Ken Martin, chairman of the state Democratic Party, said the three Republican congressmen put the health and safety of other passengers at serious risk.
