    Acciona Energia, Plug Power JV gets boost for green H2 project in Spain

    A proposed 20-MW green hydrogen plant developed by a joint venture (JV) between Spanish renewables company Acciona Energia (BME:ANE) and US hydrogen fuel cells specialist Plug Power Inc (NASDAQ:PLUG) has been declared as a strategic industrial project for the region of Galicia, northwestern Spain.

    Kleiner verlies voor FuelCell

    Omzet wel lager in derde kwartaal.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) FuelCell heeft in het derde kwartaal van zijn lopende boekjaar een kleiner operationeel verlies gerapporteerd, terwijl de omzet ook daalde. Dit bleek donderdag uit cijfers van de Amerikaanse producent van elektriciteit uit waterstof met een brandstofcel.

    "In het derde kwartaal heeft ons team solide prestaties geleverd", zei CEO Jason Few, die verder wees op een aanhoudende kostenbeheersing en de voortzetting van de Powerhouse-strategie.

    "Door onze recente contracten is de orderportefeuille in het kwartaal aanzienlijk gegroeid", zei de topman verder. Volgens Few is er een "belangrijk potentieel" voor het bedrijf, nu energienetwerken worden uitgedaagd door de groei van AI-datacenters.

    In het derde kwartaal slonk het operationeel verlies van 41,4 miljoen tot 33,6 miljoen dollar. Verder daalde het brutoverlies op jaarbasis van 8,2 miljoen tot 6,2 miljoen dollar.

    De aangepaste EBITDA verbeterde 36 procent van 31,6 miljoen dollar negatief naar 20,1 miljoen dollar negatief.

    Onder de streep liep het verlies per aandeel fractioneel op, van 0,06 naar 0,07 dollar. In het derde kwartaal van 2023 kon FuelCell echter profiteren van een eenmalige bate van 0,04 dollar per aandeel.

    De omzet daalde afgelopen kwartaal met 7 procent van 25,5 miljoen tot 23,7 miljoen dollar.

    Aan het einde van het derde kwartaal, op 31 juli, had FuelCell 326 miljoen dollar in kas. Dat was aan het einde van boekjaar 2023, op 31 oktober, ruim 403 miljoen dollar.

    De aandelen van FuelCell noteerden donderdagmiddag 5,7 procent hoger.

    Worley to help prep Shell oil plant in Germany for Rheinland II project

    Redexis injects green hydrogen into Spanish gas grid

    Spanish gas infrastructure company Redexis SA said it has injected green hydrogen into the gas grid on the island of Mallorca, marking the first instance of green hydrogen blending in Spain.

    The company built a system that allows for the introduction of green hydrogen produced at the Lloseta plant into the extensive gas network on the Balearic island. This included constructing a hydrogen reception station, a dedicated 3.2-kilometre (1.99 miles) long hydrogen pipeline and a blending facility that allows hydrogen to be injected into the gas grid.

    German-Austrian group implements 1st cross-border hydrogen delivery

    A German-Austrian consortium has successfully delivered green hydrogen via a pipeline from Austria to Germany as part of a cross-border project, energy storage company RAG Austria AG said on Thursday.

    RAG is participating in the project, called H2 Cross Border, with German energy firms Bayernets GmbH, Bayerngas GmbH, and Shell Energy Deutschland GmbH as well as milk processing company Meggle GmbH & Co KG.

    India's Maharashtra attracts billions of dollars for renewables, green H2

    Officials from the government of the Indian state of Maharashtra were busy on Thursday signing several memoranda of understanding (MoU) that outline the planned investment of billions of dollars in local renewable energy, pumped storage and green hydrogen projects.

    According to a series of social media posts by deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) and the state’s Department of Water Resources have signed pacts with REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd, THDC India Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, SJVN Ltd, Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) and JSW Neo Energy Ltd.

    Germany's Hy2B starts testing 5-MW electrolyser in Bavaria

    German consortium Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH has started to test a 5-MW electrolyser in Bavaria, which is expected to go into regular operation at the end of 2024, the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy said.

    The electrolyser, located in the municipality of Pfeffenhausen, uses electricity from a nearby 10-MW solar park operated by co-operative BuergerEnergie Niederbayern eG.

    Neste scraps 120-MW electrolyser project, to reconsider green H2 plan

    Finnish refiner and renewable fuels producer Neste Oyj (HEL:NESTE) has abandoned a plan to install a 120-MW electrolyser for green hydrogen production at its crude oil refinery in Porvoo, citing local regulatory restrictions and the need for further evaluation of future investments.

    The company remains committed to using renewable hydrogen in Porvoo but will now actively evaluate alternative supply pathways, said Markku Korvenranta, executive vice president of Neste’s oil products business unit.

    Cadiz, RIC partner on 50,000 kg/day green hydrogen plant in California

    Spanish renewables developer RIC Energy has selected a site in Cadiz, Southern California, for its first green hydrogen facility in the United States, a press release announced on Wednesday.

    RIC Energy entered into an agreement with California water solutions company Cadiz Inc (NASDAQ:CDZI) to use its land and water for an industrial-scale green hydrogen project powered by solar energy, the pair said in the joint statement.

    Nel opens fully automated electrolyser factory in Connecticut

    Norwegian hydrogen solutions provider Nel ASA (OSE:NEL) on Wednesday held an opening of its fully automated proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyser plant in Wallingford, Connecticut, as the company announced on social media.

    The project is an expansion of the Wallingford site, which increases its annual capacity from 50 MW to 500 MW.

    Thyssenkrupp Nucera secures EU funding for 300-MW hydrogen plant

    German electrolyser maker Thyssenkrupp Nucera AG & Co KgaA (ETR:NCH2) said on Thursday that it has been awarded EU funding of up to EUR 36 million (USD 38.7m) for a project to construct a 300-MW plant for green hydrogen production.

    The production facility will be using the high-temperature electrolysis technology known as Solid Oxide Electrolyser Cell (SOEC). According to Nucera’s CEO Werner Ponikwar, the technology is characterised by a “high level of efficiency and great cost effectiveness”.
