Hoeveel van de mensen die in 2016 niet gestemd hebben ( ca 105 miljoen) gaat nu wel stemmen.
.
ik begrijp wel wat van die vele niet-stemmers, ook de democraten daarvan.

ene Hillary dacht echt dat ze recht had op die presidentstitel, ze was gewoon aan de beurt.
verkeerde houding en verkeerde instelling maar wie kon vermoeden dat het alternatief
nog veel en veel en veel erger was.......toen ?

zaken zijn nu veel duidelijker en dat zal blijken.

“She wants it,” two of them said matter-of-factly.

Warren’s moves could set up the marquee fight between the party's left and its center over what will be one of the most consequential Cabinet roles in the next administration. If Warren gets the nod, the pushback from Wall Street would likely be swift, given some banking executives' fears that Warren would spearhead harsher regulations on the financial sector. Donald Trump Jr. declared on Thursday night that coronavirus deaths had dropped to “almost nothing,” questioning the seriousness of the pandemic on a record-breaking day for new cases in which more than 1,000 Americans died of the virus.

Speaking to Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Trump Jr. pointed to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that he suggested show a declining coronavirus death rate.

“I went through the CDC data, because I kept hearing about new infections, but I was like, ‘Why aren’t they talking about this?’ ” Trump Jr. said. “Oh, because the number is almost nothing. Because we’ve gotten control of this thing, we understand how it works. They have the therapeutics to be able to deal with this.”

The discussion on Fox was sparked by an earlier segment on CNN, when Sanjay Gupta advised President Trump’s supporters not to attend his rallies. Gupta, the network’s chief medical correspondent, reported that new coronavirus cases had increased 82 percent of the time in counties that hosted a total of 17 rallies for the president between August and September. The infection rate in those counties had also climbed at a faster clip than the overall rate for their state, CNN reported.

Gupta noted that if anyone had been to one of Trump’s outdoor rallies, which have attracted thousands of maskless supporters not adhering to social distancing recommendations, they should assume they have been exposed to the coronavirus and quarantine for 14 days.

“Don’t go to these rallies,” Gupta said. “Look, just about anywhere in the country now, if you go to a gathering that’s several hundred people, it’s without a doubt the virus is attending that rally with you.”

On Fox, Ingraham said that Gupta’s words, along with Minnesota’s covid-19 guidelines capping the number of attendees at the president’s planned Friday rally to 250 people, was “a part of a larger media effort” to discourage attendance at Trump rallies. The president later tweeted his displeasure over the Minnesota limitations.

“Don, is he kidding me?” Ingraham asked Trump Jr., referring to Gupta. “They are pulling out all the stops. Now the virus is attending the rally. Apparently, they’re waving flags, too.” She added later, “A tragedy is not a reason to take people away from their candidate.” Trump Jr. scoffed at Gupta, calling him a “moron.”

Trump Jr.’s claim that death rates were now at “almost nothing,” captured in a clip that had been viewed more than 2 million times as of early Friday, prompted a strong response from critics and medical experts.

Texas' new coronavirus surge is leaving critically sick patients stranded in rural areas, hospitals say
Rural hospitals say they’re in a bind as larger facilities in places like Lubbock, Amarillo and El Paso fill with coronavirus patients and often cannot accept gravely ill patients who need more advanced care than small hospitals can offer.

Texas is experiencing a second surge of coronavirus hospitalizations, up more than 75% since the beginning of October. On Oct. 28, there were more than 5,600 people with COVID-19 in Texas hospitals, a patient volume not seen since August, when the state experienced a crush of patients that pushed some South Texas hospitals to their limit.

The latest surge has been felt acutely in El Paso, where leaders recently converted a convention center into an emergency medical site to provide additional hospital beds, which are so overrun that some patients are being airlifted out of the city.

And in Lubbock, where Texas Tech University has reported more student infections than any other university in the state as doctors warn hospitals are full.

And in Amarillo, where dozens of nurses have recently had to miss shifts because they were either sickened by the coronavirus or quarantining because of exposure, stretching hospital beds thin.

In the final weeks leading up to the 2020 election, the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have launched a highly unusual publicity blitz to spotlight immigration enforcement actions in key battleground states where President Donald Trump is trailing his opponent Joe Biden in the polls.

As part of this push, top DHS and ICE leaders have traveled across the country to hold at least four press conferences this month in Pennsylvania, Arizona and Minnesota, shadowing the path of Trump’s rallies as he makes a last-minute appeal to voters there. These public announcements by senior leaders ahead of the election, which former officials tell TIME are abnormal, if not unprecedented, have been held to publicize mostly routine immigration enforcement operations that would usually have been revealed with little fanfare.

Instead, DHS and ICE officials have used them as a platform to aggressively make the case for the president’s immigration policies, often taking on a markedly Trumpian tone and echoing parts of his stump speech. At multiple events, Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf and his deputy Ken Cuccinelli have talked about immigrants taking American jobs, blasted Democrat-run sanctuary cities, touted “America First” and warned of “evil people who seek to travel to the United States with the intent of harming and killing Americans.”

In Phoenix last week, Wolf warned that there would be a surge in migration and an “unimaginable public health crisis” at the southern border if Trump were to lose the election — a series of nakedly political statements that stunned many former officials.

Our investigation shows the extent to which the Trump Admin was willing to go to extreme lengths—including ripping children from the arms of their parents—to stop migrants fleeing violence from seeking protection in the U.S.

When Trump’s family separation policy eventually ended, the lack of planning, coordination and capacity was made clear.

Trump changes election night plans, cancels party at Trump International

President trump has reportedly called off plans to host an election night event at Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., a person familiar with the plans told The New York Times.

The source told the Times that Trump will instead likely remain at the White House on Nov. 3.

This comes after the Trump campaign last weekend sent fundraiser emails to donors announcing a drawing that would give one winner, along with a guest, the chance to be flown to the nation’s capital, where they would stay for free and attend the Nov. 3 party at Trump International as VIPs.

“November 3rd will go down in history as the night we won FOUR MORE YEARS,” the email read. “It will be absolutely EPIC, and the only thing that could make it better is having YOU there.”

At a press conference Monday, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) said she was not aware at the time of party preparations at Trump International, which Washingtonian reported is sold out for election night.

D.C.’s coronavirus regulations currently restrict events to a maximum capacity of 50 people, including all attendees and staff.

Amy Coney Barrett werd snel verplaatst door het Hooggerechtshof nominatie proces. Er waren een aantal redenen dat Mitch McConnell en senaat Republikeinen wilde dat het snel zou gebeuren. Maar er was maar één reden voor Donald Trump; hij wil dat ze betrokken wordt bij rechtszaken over de komende verkiezingen.

De president en de GOP zijn niet verlegen over het betrekken van het hof in de verkiezingen. Het orgaan heeft al besloten tot een aantal pogingen om de stemming in swingstaten te beperken. En op donderdagavond/vrijdagochtend twitterde Trump dat biden alleen zou kunnen winnen als de rechtbank erbij betrokken raakt.

Terwijl zijn handlers naar verluidt negatieve peilingen van hem weghouden, krijgt Trump duidelijk het nieuws dat hij met een ruime marge achterop raakt. En net als met zijn belastingaangiften, hoopt hij dat het Hof zal stap om hem te redden.

Trump schreef: "Als Sleepy Joe Biden daadwerkelijk tot president wordt gekozen, zouden de 4 Justices (plus1) die hebben geholpen om zo'n belachelijke overwinning mogelijk te maken, niet alleen op een zwaar verpakt hof, maar waarschijnlijk ook een draaiend hof worden gedegradeerd. De vele nieuwe Justices zullen in ieder geval Radicaal Links zijn!"

Het lijkt alsof de wanhopige president probeert om de rechtbank te dwingen zijn kant te kiezen. Republikeinse wetgevers in de senaat zal zeker worden gevraagd om hun mening over de opmerkingen. Als de geschiedenis is een indicator, hoewel, zullen ze waarschijnlijk niet veel te zeggen hebben.

De stemtotalen voor vroege en mail-in van Texas voor de verkiezingen van 2020 hebben de totale opkomst van de staat in 2016 overtroffen, met 9.009.850 al uitgebrachte stemmen, vergeleken met 8.969.226 in de laatste presidentiële cyclus.

Waarom het ertoe doet: de 38 stemmen van het kiescollege van de staat zijn in het spel - en zouden Joe Biden een knock-out slag kunnen toebrengen ten opzichte van president Trump - ondanks het feit dat het sinds 1976 geen democratische president heeft gesteund.
Uit opiniepeilingen blijkt dat Texas - deels vanwege de veranderende demografie - steeds gunstiger is geworden voor democraten.
Hillary Clinton verloor de staat met meer dan 800.000 stemmen in 2016, maar voormalig Rep.Beto O'Rourke (D) verloor van senator Ted Cruz (R) met slechts ongeveer 215.000 stemmen in de Senaatsrace van 2018.
Sen. Kamala Harris, Biden's vice-presidentiële kandidaat, gaat vrijdag naar Texas, maar de democraten in de staat dringen er nog steeds op aan dat de campagne meer geld in de staat giet.

Het grote plaatje: Texas is de tweede staat die zijn opkomst in 2016 overtreft, puur door vroege stemmingen. Hawaii was de eerste die dit eerder deze week deed.
