TOKIO (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Het Japanse navigatiebedrijf Clarion komt in Franse handen. De Franse auto-onderdelenmaker Faurecia heeft een akkoord bereikt voor een overname ter waarde van zo'n 1,1 miljard euro. Clarion is nu nog grotendeels in handen van Hitachi.
Navigatiebedrijven zijn belangrijk voor automakers, die steeds meer inzetten op technologische innovaties zoals zelfrijdende voertuigen. Daarvoor zijn goede kaarten en navigatiesystemen onontbeerlijk. Faurecia is zelf voor 46 procent in handen van autoconcern PSA.

Wel typisch hoor. Als het over TomTom gaat is het meestal in kwalificaties als 'kastjesmaker' en wordt er alleen naar het verleden gekeken.
Is dit niet een heel slecht bericht voor TomTom? Als PSA zelf een kaartenmaker in bezit heeft, waarom dan nog klant zijn/worden van TomTom?
