Hoe groter de storage problemen. Hoe meer forced shut-in's die well structuur permanent negatief aantasten. Hoe lager olieprijzen, hoe meer bankruptcies van kleinere bedrijven.

HOe meer globale productie van olie wordt aangetast nu, hoe hoger de olieprijs kan rebounden in 2022.

Probleem met die theorie is natuurlijk wel dat de wereld een mega storage niveau's moeten weg werken.

Die hoef je niet weg te werken als de jaarforward 15$ hoger staat, dan rol je hem gewoon door.

EURN blijft weer ver achter trouwens. Denk dat het pas weer meer omhoog kan als Brussel dicht is. EURN +6.5% , slechtste tanker performer momenteel.

An unthinkable hike in tanker freight rates is potentially possible if oil prices decline again in the way they did last week, a global oil analyst has predicted.
A breaking point of Brent crude with zero value and VLCC rates at $2m per day “sounds unlikely but after having seen the WTI May contract trade down to minus $40 per barrel last Monday we can say for sure that nothing is impossible,” said SEB Merchant Banking chief commodities analyst Bjarne Schieldrop in a market report today.
With oil production cuts less than half the level of depressed demand, Schieldrop sees global inventories becoming saturated and it increasingly difficult for crude oil producers and refineries to find buyers or places to store crude or products.
Schieldrop said onshore production connected to refineries, ports or storage facilities by pipelines is most vulnerable to having to case production when oil has nowhere to go.
He quoted Argus in saying that last week a US WTI oil cargo was shipped from Houston to Asia with an implicit fob (freight on board) Houston docks price of $0.75 per barrel.
It means, he said, that Brent crude which can be shipped out into storage or the last buying destinations could be trading at $15-20 per barrel when onshore crude oil prices are close to zero. But as more tankers are used for storage, then fewer will be available for transport.
“This implies that the competition for VLCCs for storage and transportation in an oil market in continuous surplus will continue until the Brent crude oil price fob ARA (Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp region) equals zero and the VLCC freight cost to China sums up to $50 per barrel which for a 2m barrel VLCC cargo equals $100m total freight cost.
“On a 50-day trip from the North Sea to Shanghai it would imply a VLCC rate of $2m per day,” he said.
Schieldrop said it is unlikely the seaborne Brent crude oil price will move all the way to zero, but he expects more heavy downward pressure on oil market prices.
Last week when the WTI price went negative there were 109m barrels of oil open for May contracts. Currently there are long positions on 338m barrels to be sold before the 19 May deadline for the June contract.(Copyright)

Als dat waarheid wordt, dan wordt het hier nog een gekkenhuis! Van mij mag het, maar nu ook al tevreden met de rates als ze zo nog een tijdje aanhouden. Zelfs al is het maar één of een paar van de schepen van Euronav. Alleen al de symbolische waarde en de "PR" die het zou brengen.

Kunnen VLCC's en Suezmaxen gebruikt worden om product (kerosine, jetfuel, benzine...) in op te slagen?
En vice versa? Kunnen producttankers gebruikt worden om crude in op te slagen?
