Parnas co-founded Fraud Guarantee with the idea of providing insurance to companies to protect against fraud.

The scrutiny of Fraud Guarantee brings the investigation closer to Giuliani, Trump's vocal defender, and raises questions about what role the former mayor played, if any, in the marketing of the company. A lawyer for Giuliani said his client never had any conversations about investor pitches or marketing with Parnas or his business partner David Correia.

Trump wil straalmotoren aan China leveren

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) De Amerikaanse president Donald Trump heeft aangegeven dat hij de verkoop van Amerikaanse straalmotoren aan China niet zal frustreren. Dit bleek uit verschillende tweets van Trump.

"Wij willen het niet onmogelijk maken om zaken met ons te doen", aldus Trump. Als de VS niet leveren, dan zullen andere landen dit wel doen, zei de president.

"Als voorbeeld wil ik dat China onze straalmotoren koopt, de beste ter wereld". Deze motoren zullen worden gebruikt voor een nieuw Chinees vliegtuig.

GE produceert deze motoren in samenwerking met het Franse Safran. GE betoogde dat de vrees dat de motoren door China kunnen worden omgebouwd, overdreven is.

Hatelijk circus rond Trump gaat door

Meerdere keren heb ik op deze plek uitgelegd dat de impeachmentprocedure van het Amerikaanse Congres geen strafrechtelijk maar een politiek proces is. Een president hoeft niet per se van een misdaad te worden beticht om met impeachment te worden geconfronteerd. Wat daarvoor nodig is, is een simpele meerderheid in het Huis van Afgevaardigden. Als dat Huis van de president af wil, doet het een voorstel aan de Senaat. Maar in de Senaat is een twee derde meerderheid nodig. Ofwel: de lat ligt heel hoog in de Senaat.

Wie een beetje oog heeft voor objectiviteit, ziet dat het impeachmentproces een kermis was, opgebouwd rondom een telefoongesprek tussen Trump en de president van Oekraïne. Dat telefoongesprek was onschuldig qua toon en inhoud, maar werd omgetoverd tot iets misdadigs in handen van Democraten, hun steunpilaren in het Witte Huis, en de media.

De roep om impeachment klonk meteen na de verkiezingen in 2016. En dat gebeurde op basis van een rapport dat een Britse ex-spion had opgesteld en dat in Washington circuleerde. Het was het begin van de theorie dat Trump in het zadel was geholpen door Poetin, die kennelijk vanuit Moskou in staat was geweest de uitslagen te manipuleren.
Dat rapport bevatte onbewezen verhalen over Trump; een team advocaten onder leiding van de voormalige directeur van de FBI Robert Mueller deed zijn uiterste best bewijzen te vinden.

Volkomen nep rapport
Dat het rapport volkomen nep was, wist Muellers team direct aan het begin van het onderzoek, maar het wilde het rapport als een zwaard van Damocles boven het hoofd van Trump houden.
Desondanks wilde de FBI figuren in de omgeving van Trump afluisteren om zo bewijzen te verzamelen voor Trumpiaanse schanddaden die, los van dat rapport, wel bewezen konden worden. Daarvoor moest de FBI toestemming vragen bij een speciale afluisterrechtbank.
De FBI legde die rechtbank het neprapport voor, met aanvullend bewijs uit de media. Daarbij verzwegen de FBI-agenten dat die media uit datzelfde rapport citeerden – dit heet ’circulaire bewijsvoering’. Er was dus geen ander bewijs dan het neprapport zelf, ofwel: de FBI manipuleerde de rechtbank. Bovendien veranderde de FBI het cv van een Trump-medewerker die centraal stond in de afluisteraanvraag; deze man was informant van de CIA, maar in de afluisteraanvraag werd dit essentiële feit geschrapt. En de FBI meldde niet dat dat neprapport gefinancierd was door de Democratische Partij.

"Immense tegenstand zal dit jaar toenemen"
Wat heeft het team van Robert Mueller al die jaren gedaan? Het is op zoek geweest naar aanwijzingen die Trump mogelijk konden beschadigen. Het is de omkering van het proces dat in elke rechtsstaat heilig is: er moet aanleiding zijn voor een justitieel onderzoek. Die aanleiding was, zoals de FBI wist, slechts een neprapport.
Maar er was hoop – hoop dat Trump van iets anders kon worden beticht. Ook hierin slaagde Mueller niet, wat voor eenieder in DC en New York een verrassing was. Trump, een beruchte projectontwikkelaar, moest toch ergens lijken in het beton gestort hebben?
Toen Mueller zijn graafwerk opgaf, kwamen de Democraten, die samen met de media Trump niet van vervolging wilden ontslaan, met een ander verhaal op de proppen. De aandacht ging niet meer uit naar Rusland maar naar Oekraïne. Trump zou militaire hulp aan Oekraïne hebben ingehouden als Oekraïne geen onderzoek deed naar de zoon van Joe Biden (de zoon had een fortuin van een corrupt Oekraïens bedrijf ontvangen).

Extreem vijandig
Het is lastig een genuanceerd verhaal onder de aandacht te brengen in een medialandschap dat zo extreem vijandig staat tegenover Donald Trump. Wat u leest, ziet en hoort, is afkomstig van Amerikaanse media als de Washington Post, en daar werken mensen die Trump verachten. Jarenlang hebben ze wapperend met het neprapport de ’collusion’-mythe in leven gehouden, daarna de Oekraïne-zeepbel geblazen en dit circus gaat door zolang Trump in het Witte Huis verkeert.
Er is nu een incident over de mogelijke straf voor ene Roger Stone, een vermakelijke excentriekeling die al jaren in kringen van de Republikeinen rondhangt. Net als de andere mannen die zijn aangeklaagd door Robert Muellers team, zoals generaal Flynn, is hij onschuldig aan ’collusion’ – ze worden verdacht van het maken van fouten, misleidingen of soortgelijke overtredingen in hun omgang met het Mueller-team (dat onderzoek deed naar misdaden waarvan het wist dat ze niet bestonden). De bedoeling was de verdachten onder druk te zetten en zo alsnog aan belastende informatie te komen over Trump. Maar die info was er niet. Toch werden de heren op basis van overtredingen in hun omgang met de FBI aangeklaagd. Het is een aberratie van de rechtsstaat.
Dat Trump overeind blijft, is een mirakel. De interne en externe tegenstand is immens en zal dit jaar toenemen. Democraten hebben al aangekondigd dat Trump opnieuw steun van Poetin zal krijgen bij de komende verkiezingen. Het gaat niet om feiten of om de realiteit – dit alles wordt gedreven door blinde haat tegen Trump en zijn kiezers. De cultuuroorlog woedt in volle hevigheid.

He was found guilty on 11 criminal counts related to the Senate seat and six counts involving fundraising shakedowns of a hospital executive and racetrack owner. Five counts related to the Senate seat were later dismissed on appeal.

O.a Kerik had used the aftermath of 9/11 for personal gain and later made “a conscious decision to essentially lie to the President of the United States to get a cabinet position.

Opvallend dat beide heren in de bak zitten voor vergrijpen die trump na aan het hart liggen: liegen, 9/11 gebruiken om er zelf beter van te worden, zieke kindertjes gebruiken als melkkoe.

LONDON—A lawyer for Julian Assange has claimed in court that President Trump offered to pardon Assange if the WikiLeaks founder agreed to help cover up Russia’s involvement in hacking emails from the Democratic National Committee.

Assange’s lawyers said on Wednesday that former Republican congressman Dana Rohrabacher offered Assange the deal in 2017, a year after emails that damaged Hillary Clinton in the presidential race had been published. WikiLeaks posted the stolen DNC emails after they were hacked by Russian operatives.

The claim that Rohrabacher acted as an emissary for the White House came during a pre-extradition hearing in London.

Assange has argued that he should not be extradited to the U.S. because the American case against him is politically motivated. He spent almost seven years hiding in the Ecuadorian embassy in Central London claiming that he would be jailed in the U.S. if he wasn’t granted asylum. He was kicked out of the embassy last year.

His lawyers told the court that Trump’s alleged offer to pardon Assange proved that this was no ordinary criminal investigation.

Edward Fitzgerald, who was representing Assange in court, said he had evidence that a quid pro quo was put to Assange by Rohrabacher, who was known as Putin’s favorite congressman.

Economic advisers to the White House have suggested President Trump propose a new minimum tax on corporations as part of his election year “tax cut 2.0? package, two people briefed on the planning said, hoping to address criticism that the 2017 tax law allowed many of the country’s largest firms to virtually eliminate their federal tax burden.

The 2017 tax law lowered the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent, but it allowed companies to continuing using loopholes and tax breaks to lower their taxes even further. The tax law also eliminated the corporate alternative minimum tax, which was supposed to prevent companies from overusing deductions to avoid paying any taxes.

After the tax law was passed, corporate tax payments came in about 40 percent lower than had been projected before any changes were made, according to the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank. The White House said the tax cuts would lead to a surge in new business investment, but business investment contracted much of last year. The White House also predicted that the tax cuts would help the economy grow 3 percent in 2019, but it instead grew 2.3 percent.

Corporations paid 11.3 percent tax rate last year, in steep drop under Trump’s law

The 2017 tax cut is projected to increase the national debt by close to $2 trillion over 10 years, according to nonpartisan estimates, drawing criticisms against Trump of fiscal profligacy as the annual deficit rises above $1 trillion.

The average federal tax rate of the country’s largest 400 corporations was about 11 percent in 2018, the lowest rate since at least 1984 and a steep drop from the average 21 percent rate paid between 2008 and 2015, according to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.

Larry Kudlow, the White House economic adviser leading the tax effort, has said the proposal will probably be released in September, although officials have been promising a new tax cut plan since 2018 and have yet to provide concrete details.

White House advisers have also floated expanded tax-free savings accounts in the “2.0” package to increase the amount of money available to lower- and middle-income households. Kudlow told the New York Post this month that the package may include “Universal Savings Accounts” that would allow Americans to make more tax-free investments, although details remain vague.
