Wat zegt de CEO zelf over China???
www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-06-15/chi...Automobile production in China, already the world’s biggest market, may climb about 60 percent in the next eight years, Mittal said yesterday, adding his company is focusing on making steel for industries including vehicles and white goods in China.
Automobile output may rise to 30 million units to 35 million units in the next seven to eight years, from 22 million units now, Mittal said yesterday. The new auto venture with Hunan Valin Steel Co. has annual output capacity of 1.5 million tons.
“At this time our agenda is to participate in this niche market,” Mittal said.En:
About 80 of China’s major steelmakers had a combined loss of 2.3 billion yuan ($370 million) in the first quarter in what’s been described as the harshest operating environment in history. Steel reinforcement-bar futures in Shanghai today touched 3,009 yuan a ton, the lowest level for a most-active contract since the futures debut in 2009. Some mills have faced a credit squeeze as the government moves to curb overcapacity, worst in construction steel, and to protect the environment.+
“China already has built overcapacity and this capacity needs consolidation,” Mittal said in Loudi at the opening of the company’s $832 million auto steel venture in the Asian nation. “Some of the foreign investors would like to wait and watch what’s going to happen to these overcapacities.”Ik noem dat een verkapte winstwaarschuwing voor de komende jaren voor die bedrijven en voor Mittal een risico qua afzet, maar ieder zijn eigen lol wat dat betreft. ;)
www.businessweek.com/news/2014-06-13/... Met bijbehorende quote:
“If the probe spills over to iron ore inventory, traders will have problems getting financing,” Wu Zhili, a steel analyst at Shenhua Futures Co. in Shenzhen, said by phone. “They might start to dump ore, resulting in a market selloff.”
China’s iron ore inventory at ports fell 0.3 percent to 106.5 million tons in the week to June 6 from a record 106.86 million tons a week earlier, data from Beijing Antaike Information Development Co. shows. As much as 40 percent of inventory at ports may be tied up in financing, according to Daiwa Securities Group Inc.
Morgan Stanley reduced its price estimate for this year to $105 from $118 forecast in May as the seaborne surplus grew faster than expected and cost support at Chinese miners fell, analysts Joel Crane and Rachel Zhang wrote in a report yesterday.
Bron 1 jaar:
www.marketwatch.com/investing/index/S...

Based on its guidance framework, the Company continues to anticipate 2014 EBITDA of approximately $8.0 billion, assuming:
a) Steel shipments increase by approximately 3% in 2014 as compared to 2013
b) Marketable iron ore shipments increase by approximately 15%
c) The iron ore price averages approximately $120/t (for 62% Fe CFR China)
d) A moderate improvement in steel margins
1. Net interest expense is expected to be approximately $1.6 billion for 2014
2. Capital expenditure is expected to be approximately $3.8-4.0 billion for 2014
