Er zijn nog meer overeenkomsten:-)).
Laten we de duimpjesgever Klein Duimpje noemen :-) Het zijn immers maar kleine duimpjes, net als die van Trump.

The importance of civil engineering to the South West is being highlighted at the region’s top industry awards, with infrastructure projects of all shapes and sizes displaying how they have made a difference for local communities.

The winners of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) South West Civil Engineering Awards 2021 will be announced by Rob Bell, TV presenter and engineer, on Thursday 30 September at a gala ceremony in the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel.

Ten projects from Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire and Somerset are vying to walk away with a prize after a year that has seen civil engineers battle to overcome the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, keeping complex infrastructure works on track or delivering emergency schemes at breakneck speed.

This year’s finalists include a COVID emergency homeless housing project, a canal restoration, an NHS Nightingale hospital, a railway resilience project, a major nuclear tunnelling scheme and the region’s biggest multi-disciplinary arts and heritage space.

Rob Bell, who can currently be seen on Channel 5, presenting, Lighthouses: Building the Impossible, is hosting the awards for the first time. He hopes they will reinforce the vital role played by civil engineers in the region where he also studied engineering:
Rob said: “During the coronavirus lockdowns, people connected with their surroundings and their local infrastructure a lot more. I hope this has helped to raise awareness of how civil engineering benefits all our lives. As a graduate of engineering at the University of Bath, I welcome this opportunity to further reinforce the message that the region’s engineers are working to make things better for communities and tackling society’s biggest challenges, whether that’s the global pandemic or climate change.”

The awards ceremony will be the first time that the civil engineering industry in the region has come together in person since the COVID-19 outbreak. Craig Small, Operations Director, Kier Infrastructure (Major Projects), representing the main awards sponsor, Kier BAM, said: “We’re delighted to support these prestigious regional awards. The exceptionally high quality of entrants year on year truly showcases the breadth and depth of civil engineering talent within our region. The Kier BAM team wish all the projects the very best of luck!”

For those not able to attend the ceremony, the award winners will be revealed on the ICE South West Twitter account @ICESouthWest between 9:50 and 10:15pm on 30 September.

Full details of all the shortlisted projects and awards sponsors are available at ice.org.uk/sw/awards.

Six firms shortlisted for £240m civils deal

A mix of new names and familiar faces have made the shortlist for an enabling works contract for the stretch of line between the West Midlands and Crewe on the HS2 railway.

Familiar bidders Laing O’Rourke, Skanska and Bam Construction, which is set to include the group’s Bam Nuttall civils arm, have all made the cut for the deal known as the Advanced Civil Works contract.

They have been joined by Galliford Try, believed to be making its debut as a lone bidder on a HS2 shortlist, as well as Kier, another firm also thought to have been shortlisted as a sole bidder for a major package for the first time, and a bid from Northern Irish firm John Graham.

Sterker nog, twee postings met wel inhoud doen de koers op de valreep nog zakken.
Kan verkeren zei iemand eens.

Government starts race for £30bn mega framework
Aaron Morby

The Crown Commercial Service has started the tender race for its ProCure23 and major project framework for public spending departments.

The fourth-generation ProCure23 element for the NHS will be split into three lots, while two other lots in the bundled tender will cover MoD airfield works and major construction projects valued at more than £80m.

The final major projects lot will account for the majority of total forecast spend over the 56-month lifetime of the frameworks at £20bn.

These last two lots are effectively a partial refresh and expansion of the Government’s Construction Works and Associated Services framework to provide extra market capacity and usher in principles in the Construction Playbook.

A webinar is planned for 4 October to launch the contest.

Framework lots

P23 value-based lots:

1. projects under £20m; split into seven regions (Value £3bn)

2. projects £20-£70; 8 places (£3bn)

3. projects over £70m+: 8 places (3bn)

Construction Works and Associated Services 2

4. Airfield Works – national lot; 6 places (£1bn)

5. General construction over £80m; 20 places (£20bn)

Building on past iterations, P23 is hoped to bring the latest best practice in construction methods to the NHS and focuses on delivering greener facilities, reducing carbon emissions and promoting social value.

The present P22 arrangement is shared by six firms: BAM, Galliford Try, Graham, Tilbury Douglas, Kier and Vinci/Sir Robert McAlpine joint venture IHP.

In its 19 year history, the ProCure framework has successfully delivered more than 1,200 projects across England, with a cumulative spend of £9.7bn, and ProCure23 will build this heritage into a third decade.
