(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Op Wall Street zijn dinsdag vijf van de acht AEX-genoteerde fondsen ten opzichte van het slot in Amsterdam hoger gesloten. De verschillen waren miniem.

ArcelorMittal SA Appoints Mr. Siphamandla Mthethwa as CFO

ArcelorMittal South Africa, the largest steel producer on the African continent, has appointed Mr. Siphamandla Mthethwa as its Chief Financial Officer (and Executive Director. The announcement was made following an extensive recruitment process, and the appointment will be effective from 1 July 2023, or sooner if circumstances permit.

Mr. Mthethwa is a qualified Chartered Accountant, with more than 20 years of financial experience, which includes significant experience as a financial executive with broad strategic and financial leadership responsibilities. He has completed the Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School and the CFO Executive Programme at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Currently, Mr. Mthethwa serves as the CFO and Executive Director at the Airports Company South Africa SOC). During his career, he has fulfilled senior management and executive leadership roles, making him a perfect fit for his new role at ArcelorMittal South Africa.

Ms. Suretha van Wyk, who had been serving as Interim CFO, will continue in that role until Mr. Mthethwa assumes his position.

Lekker handelen in zo'n aandeel kan toch prima. Nu en dan wat opties schrijven(calls en puts) en dan heb je toch een knap rendement.

ja dat klopt, maar het houdt wel een keer op. ik ben zo teleurgesteld in dit bedrijf alleen maar hoopgevende praatjes en ondertussen de aandeelhouder als stront behandelen

En ondertussen stijgt de staalprijs verder vandaag in de EU naar 923,68 dollar/ton en als extra stijgen de inputkosten niet mee en blijven die de afgelopen maanden stabiel, dus winstmarges stijgen voor arcelormittal.

Ok, er kan een recessie aankomen maar de staalprijs zegt momenteel van niet, maar arcelormittal is goed gepositioneerd.

In arcelormittal zijn belangrijkste markten EU/NAFTA/BRAZILË & INDIË zitten de staalprijzen in de lift momenteel dus Q1 & Q2 zullen respectievelijk goed en nog beter zijn dan Q4 2022, Q3 & Q4 hangt van de stand af van de huidige staalprijs, naar beneden of verdere stijging of gelijk blijvend.

ArcelorMittal’s flats deliveries to Europe to be delayed after fires at BFs

Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal has stated in a letter sent to its customers that delays in flat steel deliveries across Europe are unavoidable due to the fires that impacted blast furnaces in Spain and France. Allocations for fresh order books may also be reduced due to lower production levels.

In March, the company had to halt its blast furnace A at its Asturias plant in Spain and its blast furnace No. 4 at its Dunkirk plant in France after fires, as SteelOrbis previously reported.

The blast furnace A in Spain has an annual production capacity of 4.5 million mt and the blast furnace No. 4 in France has an annual production capacity of approximately 3.6 million mt.

ArcelorMittal stated that it is assessing the damages and that the necessary repairs at the furnaces will take time. Several weeks will be needed to get back to standard production levels, SteelOrbis understands.

ArcelorMittal, VEO & McPhy Build Pilot Electrolysis Plant in Eisenhüttenstadt

The pilot electrolysis plant, developed by McPhy Energy, will have an output of 2 MW and will generate hydrogen for direct use in steel production. The hydrogen will be used in the cold rolling mill, and the oxygen produced during the electrolysis process will be reused on site in production, such as in the hot rolling mill.
The hydrogen filling station will be used to fill up forklifts or articulated lorries with part of the hydrogen produced. The project aims to optimize the overall energy efficiency of the production site by testing newly developed smart operating modes in real use, with the support of the Brandenburg Technical University.
The project is being funded by the state of Brandenburg as part of the regional innovation cluster with 5.1 million euros. The aim is to further develop the technology and increase efficiency, in preparation for the complete conversion to climate-neutral production in the coming years with a complete change of technology and increased use of hydrogen.
This project is an important step towards climate-neutral steel production, linking the energy, industry, and mobility sectors to reduce long-term CO2 emissions in steel production and in the state of Brandenburg. McPhy Energy CEO Jean-Baptiste Lucas said that the project is a milestone in the company's European expansion strategy and a testament to the importance of their pan-European industrial footprint.
Overall, this project is a promising example of how hydrogen can be used in industrial applications to reduce carbon emissions and increase efficiency. It demonstrates the potential for hydrogen to play a significant role in the energy transition and highlights the importance of collaboration between industry, academia, and government to drive innovation and progress towards a more sustainable future.
