LONDEN (AFN/RTR/BLOOMBERG) - Het noodlijdende Britse bouwbedrijf Carillion heeft gepraat met de overheid over een noodinjectie om de onderneming overeind te houden. Dat meldden Britse media. Maandag gaan de gesprekken verder.

Carillion telt wereldwijd 43.000 werknemers, waarvan bijna de helft in Groot-Brittannië. Het bouwbedrijf heeft veel contracten met de overheid voor bijvoorbeeld wegen- en spoorbouw en huisvestingsdiensten voor defensie. Ook levert de onderneming facilitaire diensten voor veel scholen en ziekenhuizen. Naar verluidt heeft Carillion gevraagd om een noodinjectie van 300 miljoen pond (338 miljoen euro).

De bouwer heeft meerdere winstwaarschuwingen gegeven na projectvertragingen en kostenoverschrijdingen. De beurskoers is hard gedaald. Vrijdag liet Carillion nog weten constructieve gesprekken te hebben gevoerd met zijn geldschieters.

...mmm..die laatse alinea....meerdere waarschuwingen...tja, ons Bammetje kan er ook wat van...alleen is de koers niet giga gedaald....de koers is gewoon niet gestegen....

Carillion has failed to reach a deal with creditors and is going into liquidation.

An application was made to the High Court for a compulsory liquidation of Carillion first thing this morning and an order has been granted to appoint the official receiver as the liquidator of Carillion.

PricewaterhouseCoopers is set to act on behalf of the official receiver.

Carillion made a pre-tax loss of bn in the first half of 2017. It has debts of bn and has a m pension deficit.

Last ditch talks were held with creditors on Friday. It issued a statement at 6pm Friday evening to say that: “Suggestions that Carillion's business plan has been rejected by stakeholders are incorrect. It is too early to predict the outcome of these discussions but Carillion expects that any such agreement is likely to involve the raising of new capital and the conversion of existing financial indebtedness to equity which would result in significant dilution to existing shareholders. As part of its engagement with stakeholders, Carillion is in constructive dialogue in relation to additional short term financing while the longer term discussions are continuing.”

That was Friday evening. Clearly it has been a bad weekend for Carillion and it has had to admit, finally, that the game was up

Het is een beetje dubbel. Aan de ene kant is een teken dat ze ook bij een grote bouwer de stekker eruit kunnen trekken. Maar eigenlijk weet iedereen dat. Aan de andere kant komt er meer ruimte in de markt. Het eerste weegt vooral op de korte termijn het zwaarst (schrik) en het laatste op de wat langere termijn.
