Polestar Reports Global Volumes for First Quarter Of 2023

Building on the record 2022 global volumes of over 51,000, the Company delivered approximately 12,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2023, up nearly 26% year-on-year. Following the usual seasonality affecting deliveries in the first quarter, Polestar continues to anticipate global volumes in 2023 to increase by nearly 60% year-on-year to approximately 80,000 cars, predominantly led by Polestar 2 sales.

"2023 is going to be another year of great progress for Polestar as we expand our portfolio and continue to grow our retail network. In addition to the significant upgrades we have made to Polestar 2, we expect to start production of our highly anticipated electric SUV Polestar 3 in the summer and we will shortly launch Polestar 4, the SUV coupe transformed," says Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath.

Polestar expects to post its unaudited financial and operational results for the first quarter of 2023 on Thursday 11 May 2023, before market opening in the USA. Appelen en peren uiteraard maar als je ziet dat Tesla aan +400.000 geproduceerde auto's zit tijdens datzelfde kwartaal dan weet je dat PSNY nog een lange weg heeft af te leggen en dat we misschien momenteel teveel verwachten?

From the shores of Sweden comes the Polestar 2 sedan. On sale since 2020, the 2023 Polestar (PSNY) 2 features both a front-motor setup or dual motor all-wheel drive configuration, with the AWD version getting huge horsepower numbers (476 hp), but the single-motor version getting the longer range (270 miles).

At $48,400, the Polestar 2 is knocking on the door of the luxury segment, though its current price is essentially the average price for a new car in the U.S. Buyers get a lot for the money, however, with good looks, nice interior materials and fit and finish, and Google-powered tech for deep integration with infotainment and the car’s other systems.

When I drove the launch edition of the vehicle, the car felt light where it needed to be, with firm steering, and the ability to get you out of trouble quickly with a stab of the accelerator. It's a sporty little sedan, and for the 2024 model year the single-motor version moves the motor to the rear of the car for better performance, and Polestar is promising more range too.

Magere productie- en leveringscijfers voor Lucid Group

EV-bouwer Lucid Group rapporteerde productie- en leveringscijfers voor het eerste kwartaal die lager waren dan de voorgaande drie maanden. Lucid produceerde 2.314 voertuigen en leverde er 1.406, fors lager dan de 3.493 voertuigen geproduceerd en 1.932 geleverd een kwartaal eerder. De groep stelde eerder ook al teleur met zijn jaarprognoses. Op 8 mei komt de groep met volledige kwartaalcijfers.

Polestar unveils Polestar 4, a $60K ‘SUV Coupé’ with no rear window

Polestar unveiled its upcoming Polestar 4, a small SUV that the company is calling an “SUV Coupé,” at the Shanghai Auto Show today.

The new Polestar 4 will be Polestar’s fastest car yet, capable of 0-60 in 3.8 seconds from 400kW (544hp) of motor power in dual-motor configuration. In single-motor configuration, you lose half that power (with a 0-60 time of 7.4), but get access to up to 300 miles’ worth of range from the 102kWh battery. Range and acceleration numbers are estimates.

On the dual motor version, the car will be able to “sleep” the front motor for greater efficiency in range mode, but will still take about a 10% range penalty, with a 270-mile estimated range.

All versions have maximum 200kW DC and 22kW AC charge rate, both of which are on the high end of modern electric vehicles. This DC charge rate will bring the battery from 5-80% in 32 minutes, and 22kW AC will charge the car from zero to full in five hours – if you have access to a 100 amp circuit at home (most don’t).

The Polestar 4 will have bidirectional V2L capabilities, though Polestar hasn’t yet shared what rate the car will be able to discharge at.

Voorbeurs doet niks op de bekendmaking Polestar 4. Polestar kan doen wat ie wil. Iedereen is hier immuun voor.
Resultaten in (goede) cijfers eind 2024/2025 zullen het zeggen en bepalen.

Amerikaanse EV-startups zien kasreserves slinken na prijsverlagingen Tesla

Naar verwachting zullen Amerikaanse startups van elektrische voertuigen (met onder meer Lucid, Rivian, Fisker en Nikola) volgende week opnieuw een kwartaal met slinkende kasreserves rapporteren. Ze worstelen om de productie op te voeren en hebben weinig financieringsmogelijkheden in een turbulente economie, wat zorgt voor een grote financiële druk. Deze bedrijven, die naar de beurs zijn gegaan in de hoop de auto-industrie op te schudden, hebben hun marktwaarderingen de afgelopen maanden zien verdampen nu de vraag naar EV's afneemt en marktleider Tesla opnieuw de prijzen verlaagt om toch nieuwe orders binnen te halen.

Lucid haalde omzetverwachting niet en zag verlies toenemen

Lucid zette vorig kwartaal amper 149,4 miljoen dollar om, terwijl op 209,9 miljoen dollar werd gemikt. Dat is mogelijk een indicatie dat de prijzenslag met onder meer Tesla en andere producenten zijn tol eist. Het nettoverlies steeg tot 779,5 miljoen dollar, tegenover 604,6 miljoen dollar een jaar eerder, terwijl de kaspositie daalde van 1,74 miljard naar 900 miljoen dollar. Omdat er 1,4 tot 1,6 miljard dollar zal geïnvesteerd worden in 2023, is er nog voldoende geld tot het tweede kwartaal van 2024. In heel 2023 zullen er verder niet 10.000 à 14.000 auto’s worden gebouwd, maar slechts 10.000.

Je kan mij niet vertellen dat deze merken het lang gaan overleven. Zo'n verlies tegenover een mini omzet. Erg benieuwd naar Polestar. Zal Polestar het volkunnen houden.

Ik hoop het. Luchtbel EVs.
Paar dagen geleden bv de eerste auto 'verkocht' van Fisker. Eén auto pas afgeleverd. Ik ben niet zeker of deze wel kon rijden. Als je ziet waar die staat en af en toe stijgt. Zielig gedrag van Amerikanen. Everything needs to be big.
Ik kan het niet meer volgen.

Hopelijk blijven dadelijk de echten over naast de reguliere merken.
