Antonov plc (‘the Company’ or ‘Antonov’)
Trading update
Antonov considers it appropriate to give the market an overview of progress on existing and newly acquired projects:
The B-phase production intent design of the Antonov 6-speed automatic transmission, the TX-6, has successfully completed rigorous rig based durability testing and in-vehicle calibration development and as such is now validated as “fit for production”. All design modifications following this testing required to enhance the performance of the TX-6 have been incorporated into the C-phase production design meaning production tooling for the long lead components can now be released and the design is ready for production. A technical and purchasing team has been established within EFA, the JV between Antonov and Landai, to liaise with the nominated Chinese production suppliers. C-phase transmissions will be assembled by the middle of the year, predominantly with Chinese manufactured components, and in many cases using production tooling. The planned SOP, (start of production), of the TX-6 will remain the end of 2011. An annual purchase commitment for at least 20,000 units from 1st January 2012 onwards has been signed with the Chinese OEM Lifan, with other OEMs in negotiation. In the first half of April 2011 there will be a ride and drive event in the Netherlands where shareholders and other invited guests will be given the opportunity to experience the performance of the TX-6 transmission first hand in the demonstration VW Golf vehicles. The development of a 3-speed automatic transmission for application in electric vehicles has been very successful this far. The first unit has been assembled successfully and there is great interest in the Antonov owned design. The first projects are Jaguar (UK) and TM4 (Canada), but several others are under negotiation. The 2-speed automatic transmission has found several applications (Ministry of Defence, UAV). Based on the innovative character of Antonov’s developments the company has received this far over GBP 850K from the HMRC in the UK. Furthermore the company was rewarded with the innovation award in the category transport by the IET for Antonov’s development of the 3-speed automatic transmission for electric vehicles.
We will keep the market informed about further progress.
