Suzlon shareholders reject proposals to raise INR 2,900 crore

Economic Times reported that renewable energy solution provider Suzlon Energy's shareholders have rejected two separate proposals to raise a total INR 2,900 crore through issuance of equity shares and debentures. A majority of public shareholders voted against special resolutions to raise INR 2,000 crore through an issue of equity shares and INR 900 crore through non-convertible debentures or non-equity linked instruments.

Suzlon said in its reply to PTI that "These were only enabling resolutions to facilitate the company to raise funds at an appropriate time should that be required. Presently there are no plans to issue securities / raise funds. This does not impact our fund availability in anyway for carrying out smooth business operations.”

The company at its AGM on July 27 had sought shareholders' approval to issue redeemable non-convertible debentures/non equity linked instruments in one or more tranches to an extent of INR 900 crore on a private placement basis for replacement of existing debt.

As many as 65.12 per cent votes were in favour of the special resolution and it was declared 'not passed' in the filing. Special resolutions require at least 75 per cent of votes in favour to be passed.

Similarly, another special resolution to offer, issue and allot equity shares or equity-linked resolution instruments to an extent of INR 2,000 crore was also declared 'not passed'. It got 57.51% votes in its favour.

Suzlon eyes 30pct of 20,000 MW wind capacity to be installed by FY21

Economic Times reported that leading wind turbine maker Suzlon is looking to capture about 30 per cent of the 20,000 megawatt of wind capacity likely to be commissioned by financial year 2020-21. According to industry estimates, with the thumb rule of INR 6.5 crore per MW, the 30 per cent share translates into revenues of around INR 39,000 crore.

According to Kirti Vagadia, group chief financial officer, Suzlon said that the domestic wind market is on a growth trajectory with 7,500 MW of capacity already auctioned, 10,000 MW of bids in the pipeline, and another 3,000 MW soon to be auctioned.

Mr Vagadia told PTI that "This gives a visibility of nearly 20,000 MW of capacity getting commissioned by FY21 and we are confident of having 30 per cent share of this capacity.”

According to him, the company at present has a 20 per cent share in the 7,500 MW wind capacity already auctioned.

He further opined that FY19 may not see huge commissioning volumes as the transition period is prolonging and project execution time has increased to 18 months from nine months due to the new bidding regime.

He said that "This has caused temporary delay in realisations. But we are confident that the industry will grow from FY20 onwards as projects won earlier will be executed and new bids are in the pipeline.”

Bitcoin is earned -- or 'mined' -- by using your computer to help process the uncrackable "blockchains" or digital transaction records that underpin the currency.

This requires huge computing capacity, and a lot of electricity, and so is mostly done with huge machines in aircraft hangar-sized warehouses in the cooler climates of Iceland, Canada, northern China and Russia, where it costs less to disperse the heat generated.

The project will cover 37,000 acres in one of the world's windiest regions enabling the company to own sustainable energy resources along with a utility-scale blockchain computing facility.

Mitsubishi to bring large share in global offshore wind turbine by 2020

Global construction Review reported that Japanese engineer hopes to gain a larger share of the global offshore wind power market, which is expected to grow a 16% a year, expanding six times by 2030, thanks in large part to the growth of the nascent US industry. The turbine will be developed by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Heavy and Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems.

Mitsubishi hopes to bring its machine to market by 2020, ahead of rival projects being developed by General Electric and Siemens.

Mitsubishi and Vestas have already developed a 9.5MW version, and has received orders for more than 260 of them. The largest offshore turbine currently in operation, however, is MHI Vestas’ V164, to be found in Orsted Energy’s Burbo Bank extension in the Irish Sea, completed in 2016.

Offshore projects are turning to ever larger generators to improve efficiency and profitability: it is considerably cheaper to construct, operate and maintain one 10MW turbine than two 5MW ones.

General Electric is developing a 12,000kW turbine under a $400 million project, aiming to introduce it as early as 2021.Siemens Gamesa has announced a plan to complete an over-10,000kW model by 2024 or 2025.
