Putin Hails His ‘Brave’ Troops as Another Senior Russian Officer Is Killed

Russia’s Vladimir Putin hailed his “brave” and “effective” troops in Ukraine on Tuesday, even as social-media posts surfaced showing the Russian military suffered yet another setback after more than 40 days of war.

His glowing assessment comes amid reports that another high-ranking military official was killed in Ukraine.

Lt. Col. Dibir Dibirovich Magomedovich, a Dagestan native, was killed on April 9, according to a now-deleted post on the VK page of a Russian military academy.

A screenshot of the since-deleted post shared by Ukrainian media outlets shows that people were invited to make donations to Magomedovich’s family.

Magomedovich was reportedly based in Chechnya with the 291st Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 42nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division. No details were given on where, and in what circumstances, he was killed.

His death adds to a long list of senior military brass killed in Ukraine, as Russia goes all in on drumming up support for the war at home, with huge “Z” symbols popping up on theaters and museums around the country, and schoolchildren instructed to write letters of support to Russian soldiers in Ukraine.

Nokia has officially announced its exit from the Russian market.

"It has been clear for Nokia since the early days of the invasion of Ukraine that continuing our presence in Russia would not be possible," the Finnish telecoms company said in a press release Tuesday.

Nokia said its top priority continues to be the safety and wellbeing of its employees.

"For humanitarian reasons, Western governments have expressed concerns about the risk of critical telecommunication network infrastructure in Russia failing," the press release read.
"They have also emphasized the importance of ensuring the continued flow of information and access to the internet which provides outside perspectives to the Russian people."

"Therefore, as we exit we will aim to provide the necessary support to maintain the networks and are applying for the relevant licenses to enable this support in compliance with current sanctions," Nokia added.

Nokia said that it does not expect this decision to impact its financial outlook and that Russia accounted for less than 2% of its net sales in 2021.

This comes after Swedish telecoms company Ericsson said Monday it was suspending its business in Russia indefinitely.

Syria rescuers film tutorial to aid Ukraine's first responders

In a bombed-out building in northwest Syria, rescue workers who for years have braved Russia's war strategies film a tutorial video for Ukrainian volunteers crammed with tips gained from first-hand experience of treating casualties.

Using a dummy, members of Syria's "White Helmets" civil defence force demonstrate how to apply bandages and tourniquets in a clip shot in the rebel-held town of Ariha in Idlib province where Russian airstrikes are relatively routine.

The video which offers a range of other rescue initiatives is the latest example of how Syrians are mobilising to share with Ukrainians bitter knowledge gleaned from more than a decade of war involving Russian forces.

"As first responders, we believe that we can share our experiences in Syria with humanitarian aid workers in Ukraine," volunteer rescuer Ismail al-Abdullah tells the camera in English, battered buildings dotting the street behind him.

Het lijkt erop dat dit naar het Russische volk gericht is.
De retoriek van de-nazificatie van Oekraine schijnt niet het gewenste resultaat te hebben
Putin zegt nu tegen zijn volk dat het vecht tegen de Amerikanen die Oekraine helpen tegen de Russen

En geen ander land, niet Duitsland, Polen of Japan en vele anderen durven zich uit te spreken tegen de Amerikaanse plannen

Misschien dat hij zijn volk achter hem houdt wanneer het weet dat Rusland zich verdedigt tegen de Amerikaanse agressie

Misschien ook eens goed om naar Putin's benen te kijken
Hij kan ze niet in een rust positie zetten en maakt vreemde bewegingen met zijn benen

Tja, dit lijkt een beetje op zoals we bij Trump ziektesymptomen meenden te zien, en anderen zien die weer graag bij Biden. Ik denk dat we vanaf de bank graag aanwijzingen zien, en dan liefst ook nog de ontknoping live meemaken.
