More "outstanding" drill results from big Rossing South uranium project

LONDON -

Uranium and copper explorer Kalahari Minerals (AIM: KAH) today reported a drilling update from its 40.44% owned Extract Resources Ltd (TSX, ASX: EXT) for the Rossing South uranium deposit at the Husab project in Namibia, where exploration efforts are currently being accelerated with new rigs set to be sourced to the site.

The results from Zone 2 included intersections of 47m (metres) grading 2,741 ppm (parts per million of U3O8, 28m at 4,544 ppm U3O8 and 3m at 32,865 ppm U3O8.

"We believe that these outstanding results once again reiterate the world-class nature of the Rossing South uranium system. Extract is making strong progress with additional drilling programmes to upgrade the current resource," said Chairman of Kalahari Mark Hohnen.

Extract has also announced the commencement of a RandoX exploration programme over the entire Rossing South area to delineate additional uranium anomalies, while the feasibility study was on track and was still slated for completion in mid 2010.

Analysts also say Kazatomprom may not be keen to maintain high production growth rates due to oversupply concerns. Spot uranium UX-U3O8-SPT prices have dropped to about $45 per pound from a record of around $136 in June 2007.

The company said in a statement on Tuesday it planned to produce 13,500 tonnes of uranium this year. Earlier, a government official said Kazakhstan would produce 13,800 tonnes of uranium in 2009.

Kazatomprom said earlier this year it planned to produce 14,000 tonnes in the full year, having produced 9,535 tonnes in the first nine months.

On Tuesday it said: "...Uranium production in Kazakhstan will be 13,500 tonnes this year, which is 58 percent higher than in 2008. The realisation of this plan will help Kazakhstan become the world's No.1 producer of uranium this year."

Alors, elles recueilleront l'information nécessaire à la mise à jour du plan minier.

Environ la moitié de la quantité totale d'eau dans la mine a été évacuée par pompage et l'eau a maintenant été abaissée au niveau de 475 mètres dans le puits principal.

Comme on l'a déjà annoncé, l'assèchement de la mine et les travaux visant à sécuriser les ouvrages de développement souterrain devraient être achevés entre avril et octobre 2010, selon l'état de la mine.

Cameco prévoit déposer un rapport technique mis à jour pour le projet Cigar Lake vers la fin du premier trimestre de 2010. Le rapport technique comprendra un calendrier jusqu'au démarrage de la production et une estimation à jour des immobilisations.

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed explorer Impact Minerals would start with a reconnaissance drilling programme at its Lekobole uranium prospect, in Botswana.

The 37 hole reconnaissance drill programme would start this week to infill lines at 500 m spacing in areas where drilling has already occurred, and to test new targets.

Impact said in a statement on Tuesday that the Lekobolo the drill targets collectively cover an area of about 140 km2 within which there were numerous clusters of elevated uranium-in-soil values.

The drill programme is anticipated to finish within a few weeks, and a down-hole radiometric survey to measure uranium in the completed drill holes is due to start as soon as the logger becomes available.

ASX-listed uranium explorer Impact Minerals has com-pleted half of its drilling programme at its Lekobolo Prospect, in eastern Botswana. By mid-December last year, 27 holes had been drilled in the reconnaissance drill programme.

The completed holes have been drilled at the Lekobolo site on a broad spacing of 1 000 m by 400 m and 1 000 m between drill holes. Impact MD Mike Jones tells Mining Weekly that a further 25 holes are expected to be drilled at Lekobolo at the beginning of 2010.

The company owns 100% of the prospecting licences for its Botswana uranium project, which includes the Lekobolo site as well as the Kodibeleng, Ikongwe, Shoshong and Sua sites.

Jones says that the follow-up work on the remaining prospects will continue progressively over a six-month period once the drilling at Lekobolo is complete.
