Bij heal the world denk ik aan een vreselijk lied, maar negativiteit uit je leven ontslaan is nooit verkeerd. Ik steek tegenwoordig ook weinig energie in collega's die zeggen "dat werkt toch niet", "zo doen we dat nu eenmaal" of "dat hebben we 5 jaar geleden ook al geprobeerd". Ik spreek liever mensen die wel iets willen ipv 80% van mijn energie verspillen aan energy drainers, die komen er later wel achteraan hobbelen.

Don’t worry, heal the world is niet mijn commitment hoewel ikook weer geen energy drainer ben.

En in minder aanstellerig dus gewoon Nederlands: Ik sta positief in het leven en ben maatschappelijk erg begaan, zowel met mensen die het moeilijker dan ik hebben als met dieren in het algemeen, maar als ik het idee heb dat iemand me belazert vertrouw ik hem niet.

leuk dat "jullie beiden" reageren. Jullie hebben het allen over vertrouwen, maar moet je iemands vertrouwen niet verdienen? Iemand zonder meer vertrouwen kan helaas soms tot teleurstellingen leiden. Daarom moeten we misschien beter ons best doen om het vertrouwen van de ander te winnen....

Lyft ditches Google Maps for Here, partners with Argo AI

Argo and Ford will deploy driverless cars on Lyft's network in Miami and Austin.

The ride-hailing company Lyft is changing up its search data and places provider, which until now have been powered by Google. Lyft will now use Here instead. Lyft says the switch will mean a better search database for places and addresses as well as more accurate predicted arrival times—two important things for a ride-hailing company to get right.

"Over the past six months, we have worked in collaboration with Lyft to implement and test our robust destination catalog that helps riders get to more destinations in cities across North America. Our services are now enriching the Lyft network, spearheading innovation in the rideshare industry," said Here CEO Edzard Overbeek.

There may be other motivations for the switch. According to Lyft's head of rideshare, Ashwin Raj, the switch will "improve the efficiency of our marketplace," but the press release also explicitly mentions keeping user data private.

Lyft also has a new driverless tech partner. In the past, the company has dabbled in developing an in-house capability, but in April, Lyft sold off its internal self-driving division to a subsidiary of Toyota.

Working with external autonomous driving partners seems to be going better, though, as Lyft provides the necessary ride-hailing component to find people to ride in robotaxis being developed by other companies. Lyft worked with Aptiv and Motional in Las Vegas, with plans to launch a robotaxi service using electric Hyundai Ioniq 5s in the city in 2023. And Lyft has helped Waymo begin actual commercial operations in Arizona.

Now, Lyft will partner with Argo AI, the autonomous driving company with big investments from Ford and Volkswagen. Lyft is getting a 2.5 percent stake in Argo and, together with Argo and Ford, will begin adding robotaxis (with safety drivers) to its network in Miami later this year and Austin, Texas, in 2021.

Wordt het niet een beetje erg soft ?

Vertrouwen ? "Ik vertrouw mezelf niet eens" was een uitspraak van een oude oom uit vervlogen en andere tijden.
Ik sta er zelf als volgt in: vertrouw iedereen of geef ze het voordeel van de twijfel totdat het tegendeel gebleken is.

Maar als ik stelselmatig onzin lees, is het snel over en neem ik zo iemand niet meer serieus.

Voor de rest zit ik hier maar voor 1 ding, een mooi rendement maken met beperkt risico.
Medestanders zijn leuk en worden gewaardeerd, de weinige persoonlijke ontmoetingen hebben vriendschappen opgeleverd.

Voor de rest mooi tijdverdrijf, soms vermakelijk, met humor en zelfrelativering. Alleen kunnen sommigen daar niet tegen, wegens te grote verliezen ?

Gelukkig is dit voor mij geen financiele hoofdzaak.

Lyft heeft Google er al uit gegooid en daarvoor in de plaats HERE genomen……. Ford gebruikt Lyft en Argo…. In SYNC van Ford zit TT Traffic . Privacy van data van users was ook een van de argumenten….. de anderen die voor.Google hebben gekozen komen daar ook nog wel op terug. TT heeft privacy ook hoog in het vaandel dat betaalt zich vroeg of laat uit

REM technology, a crucial tool for AV deployment, is actively generating data about more than 15 million kilometers of roads daily to build the map and keep it up to date, Mobileye has said. In addition, data from 25 million vehicles is expected to be collected by 2025, in cooperation with various auto manufacturers.

Baidu has launched its Apollo Go robotaxi service in Guangzhou, taking a step closer to its goal of expanding the service to 30 Chinese cities within the next three years.

The service in Guangzhou Science City, a science and technology park located in Guangzhou’s Huangpu district, operates on predetermined routes that take its robotaxis past schools, hospitals, parks, hotels and office buildings, with more than 200 designated spots where the vehicles can pick up and drop off passengers, Baidu said in a statement Monday.

Leuk om heel af en toe over iets anders te hebben toch?

Ik kan je uit ervaring vertellen dat ze in sommige delen van de wereld iemand eerst wantrouwen tot het tegendeel is bewezen. Om te overleven moeten ze wel. Maar goed ,we leven gelukkig in Nederland.

We houden erover op;)

Dort soll das Infotainment-System „Android Auto“ zum Einsatz kommen – und da ist es durchaus denkbar, dass darüber auch Zusatz-Software fürs Auto vertrieben wird.

Volkswagen denkt aber nicht daran, Teile dieses Geschäfts Google zu überlassen, sondern wird die eigenen Marken VW, Audi, Seat oder Skoda mit einem eigenen Betriebssystem ausstatten. Übrigens wollen auch Daimler und BMW ihre Kunden mit zusätzlichen Software-Funktionen versorgen.

TomTom’s Strijbosch argues that the Level 4 cars are “overfitted” with technology because they let costs run amok and need to make up for their small sample sizes. But even if ADAS data is less robust, it can be multiplied by a far greater number of real-world hours and eventually close the gap with Level 4 tech. “By the time we’ve driven so many billions of kilometres, in millions of vehicles that have this whole sensor set-up, all corner cases will have been captured,” he says.

HYUNDAI Q2 2021: BESTE KWARTAAL IN ZES JAAR TIJD

Buiten een pandemie wordt de autowereld ook geteisterd door een chiptekort. Geen ideale omstandigheden, maar toch kan Hyundai Motor terugkijken op een uitstekend kwartaal.

Aan stevig stijgende verkoop- en winstpercentages zijn we wel gewend, want dat is een logisch gevolg van het rampzalige vorige jaar. Ten opzichte van 2020 komt simpelweg alles goed uit de verf. Toch zijn de resultaten van Hyundai ook als we verder terugkijken heel goed.

Zo noteert het bedrijf, waaronder ook Kia en Genesis vallen, een operationele winst van omgerekend 1,39 miljard euro, maar liefst 219 procent méér dan vorig jaar. Terwijl er met 1.031.349 verkochte auto’s 46,5 procent meer werd verkocht, steeg de omzet met 38,7 procent ten opzichte van 2020. Opvallend is dat de winst geheel buiten het thuisland zit. Buiten Zuid-Korea stegen de verkopen met 73,6 procent (dik 830.000 stuks), terwijl de vraag in Korea juist met 11 procent afnam.

Automotive News heeft berekend dat Hyundai hiermee het beste resultaat in zes jaar tijd in handen heeft. Hyundai benadrukt dat het leeuwendeel van de winst voor rekening komt van SUV’s. Ook luxemerk Genesis doet het echter goed. Wel kijken de Koreanen voorzichtig naar de rest van het jaar. De verwachting is dat de groei door de aanhoudende chiptekorten en nog altijd onzekere situatie rondom corona toch wat zal afzwakken, maar dan nog kan Hyundai tevreden zijn.

No Need for Waze and Google Maps as Genesis Picks TomTom for New Models

While plenty of cars out there still come with factory navigation systems and pre-loaded maps, many drivers prefer to stick with the likes of Google Maps and Waze to access next-gen capabilities like real-time traffic information and accurate data that’s continuously updated.

On the other hand, the number of Google Maps alternatives offering such advanced features is continuously growing, and TomTom’s products are just the living proof in this regard.

TomTom has developed advanced navigation solutions with Waze-like real-time traffic information and alerts. The company is working together with carmakers to offer these systems pre-loaded on their cars.

The latest to do it is Genesis, which has picked TomTom to equip its cars with maps and real-time traffic services that would also help power advanced systems like smart cruise control and advanced automated driving functions.

So, in addition to the navigation capabilities that drivers could obtain with a mobile application like Google Maps, TomTom’s integration in Genesis cars allows for more advanced tech, including new-gen automation and driving assistance systems.

For example, TomTom’s ADAS Map will be used to power the Smart Cruise Control and Highway Driving Assist II on Genesis cars, with the company promising “high quality information on road gradient, lanes, curvature, and speed limits.”

Genesis says the new integration of TomTom services in its cars will launch in Europe starting this year, with two models to come pre-loaded with the mapping technology, namely the Genesis G80 and GV80.

But when it comes to navigation, new Genesis G80 and GV80 buyers can very well stick with any app they want, including the likes of Google Maps and Waze. The G80, for example, comes with a 12-inch heads-up display and a 12.3-inch 3D digital cluster while also offering a 14.5-inch infotainment screen that allows you to run navigation apps both on Android Auto and CarPlay (support for both of them is offered on the 2021 lineup).
